PRAYER PARTNERS

Prayer is one of the most intimate and beautiful activities in which human beings can engage, whether alone or with others. Prayer is how we establish our true identity, as individuals and as the church. In prayer our identity is changed, to be more aligned with the identity of God – the identity that in love we are called towards. Bible speaking in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12.

But just as we can’t maneuver our way into friendships, it’s the same with prayer. Prayer has at its centre a relationship with God in Jesus Christ. We are not praying to placate or please God: we’re praying to relish and rejoice in Him. Relationships are not built on process, but on partnerships. Prayer is about sharing every part of yourself and your life with God.

There has never been a renewal of the spiritual life of the church – which means all Christians, you and me – without a renewal of prayer. That’s why we’ve made it the highest priority of this ministry.

To partner with us in prayers, you can join our daily prayer bulletin and Tuesday Weekly prayer meetings. You could as well subscribe to our daily prayer and newsletters.

ENCOURAGING PARTNERS

God commanded that his people encourage each other because he knows we need it. In the Gospel of John, Jesus warned that “in this world you will have trouble,” which he then followed with a much-needed encouragement: “But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

We live in a broken world where everything calls us toward selfishness and despair. Sin steals joy, our bodies break down, our plans falter, our dreams die, our resolves weaken, our perspective dims.

We are promised suffering (1 Pet. 4:12), persecution (John 15:20; 2 Tim. 3:12), and trials of various kinds persecution (John 15:20; 2 Tim. 3:12), and trials of various kinds (James 1:2-3).

When encouragement is absent from the life of a church people will feel unloved, unimportant, useless, and forgotten. God knows his people are in need of grace-filled reminders, so he calls us to encourage each other every day until his Son returns (Heb. 3:13). One of the ways you could encourage us is:

Ask questions

Asking questions provides opportunities to hear what the Lord is doing among his body. It demonstrates an expectation that everyone is serving in some way and communicates—just by showing interest—that everyone’s labors matter. One easy way to care for another in your small group or community as a leader is to ask questions and follow-up questions. It’s vital for us all to hear words of encouragement. Paul instructed the Thessalonians to “encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thess. 5:11).
